About Basingstoke Consortium Ltd

Basingstoke Consortium is an Education Business Partnership working with 11 Borough secondary schools, 3 special schools, 60+ primary schools and 2 post-16 colleges to help to prepare pupils for adult life and the world of work.

The Consortium manages a wide variety of projects in the Borough including:

  • Key Stage 4 Work Experience
  • Young Enterprise Challenges
  • Mentoring Projects
  • 14 -19 Entitlement
  • Increased Flexibility for 14-16 Year Olds Programme
  • Professional Development Placements

The Consortium is always keen to work with employers. Participation in education-business projects helps to improve skill levels in the community, raise awareness of employer needs, support school improvement and to make learning enjoyable by bringing together pupils and local business staff. Employers who work with us are making an important social contribution to the town and most organisations find that there are clear benefits for their own company and staff also.

Our Strategic Aims

The vision of the Basingstoke Consortium is:

“To build partnerships between education, training providers, business and the wider community through the delivery of high quality projects and programmes which increase the skills and abilities of the future workforce and thus enhance the school curriculum.”

Our Board

The Consortium Board comprises of up to six Representative Members:

  • Two Secondary Headteachers
  • The Chair of Basingstoke Secondary Schools and Colleges
  • Two Principals/Vice Principals of different incorporated Colleges
  • One Special School Headteacher

and up to six Associate Members:

  • One Primary phase Headteacher
  • One representative of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
  • Up to four business representatives

How we are funded?

Most of our funding is received through the Learning and Skills Council and the Local Education Authority, with contributions from the schools and colleges.
