Forthcoming Events

Year 5 Primary Science Challenge 2012

Now in its third year, we are very excited to have AWE sponsoring the event this year.

Pupils from 15 Basingstoke and Deane primary schools will be taking part. They will be working in teams to develop a short scientific experiment using everyday items.

To help enthuse and inspire them, each school will have a visit from a local employer/STEM ambassador who will demonstrate some fun scientific activities to pupils.

The winning team from each school will present their experiment to a panel of judges at the Final at QMC in June.

Focus Weeks

Sherborne St John Primary School - STEM activity week

This year the school decided to have an activity week that focussed on the STEM subjects. We have arranged a number of activities to help support the week including an "Engineering Today" morning which includes a tower and a bridge building activity. To lend a helping hand with the activity will be two ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) engineers.

Hatch Warren Junior School - Food Week

We have organised a very busy week for pupils from Hatch Warren Junior School. Not only will they be taking part in three challenges: tasting and marketing a smoothie; designing a healthy food bar and creating their own school meal, pupils will also have the opportunity to visit a local hotel, a super store, a farm and make pizzas at a local restaurant.
