Careers Adviser – Job Advert

FTE Salary:

£22,000 to £25, 500 (Qualified Level 6)

£18,500 to £22,000 (Level 4)


The Consortium is an educational Charity which has been based in Basingstoke for 30 years; the role of Careers Adviser underpins the Consortium’s wide range of work related learning projects and programmes offering 1:1 advice and guidance, interviews and group work sessions for a range of young people aged 15 to 18 in school or adults in community settings.


Due to expansion, we are seeking to recruit a number of experienced Careers Advisers that will bring flexibility to our delivery.  We can accommodate requests from individuals for fixed term and project based contracts, ranging from 7.5 to 37 hours per week.

The Careers team works closely with other teams in our organisation, including Work Experience and Work Related Learning. Advisers are involved in parents' evenings, careers events, networking with employers and outreach projects.

Successful candidates will be experienced practitioners and hold either the Level 6* or Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance or NVQ 6 in Advice and Guidance.

*Candidates who currently hold the level 4 Advice and Guidance qualification and are willing to work towards the level 6 will also be considered.


DBS Disclosure at Enhanced level will be required prior to any offer of employment and this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Work Placement Visitor - To cover the Test Valley/Andover area and the Rushmoor/Hart area

Salary: £9.50 per hour

(plus payment in lieu of holiday entitlement taking the rate to £10.65 per hour)


Hours - Negotiable and variable. Term time only.


We are seeking to recruit a Work Placement Visitor. The post will support the charity’s work placement programme for young people, by visiting local businesses and carrying out placement (including Health and Safety) checks, developing relationships and seeking to secure new placements or links to the Consortium's other activities.


The post is offered as a zero hour contract or flexible self-employed basis, activities usually take place September to June. Working term time only, you will largely be out at visits with remote contact to our office in Basingstoke. Full training will be given leading towards an IOSH qualification (unless already held).


This post(s) will cover our expanding activities in Test Valley and/or Rushmoor and Hart. Access to a car and an appropriate diriving licence will be required. Travel costs are reimbursed in addition to salary.
